Happy Thanksgiving
HAPPY THANKSGIVING
We’re not all Americans though
On the other hand
On the other hand
Gratitude is always in season
Given we’re all fingers of one hand
On the other hand
On the other hand
It isn’t rooted in slavery and genocide either
On the other hand
On the other hand
We breathe in, we breathe out, we breathe on

Sometimes it seems a shame we can’t choose our ancestors.

We don’t have to (and cannot) take responsibility for them. Probably the most useful is to learn from their example.

Yes, and sometimes the example isn’t a very good one.

I think I know what you mean and I agree. But from another point of view it seems that things are most clearly seen when they are set against their opposite.
“In order to contract a thing, one should surely expand it first.
In order to weaken, one will surely strengthen first.
In order to overthrow, one will surely exalt first.
‘In order to take, one will surely give first.’
This is called subtle wisdom.”
– Tao Te Ching Chapter 36.
