The Ice Cream Van

THE ICE CREAM VAN

Harken! Hear’st thou not
The jolly old ice cream van?
An old childhood memory

Reentering the present …

Ice cream in the Winter?
Dream on, my dearest, for
Now who leaves the house?

Reentering the present …

I scream at this Winter
For none enter the house
No one any more save I

Doing Nothing II: Quatrain

DOING NOTHING II

Not too practical this proposition agreed
Yet still practicality is not of the essence
While stillness may still serve to produce
Here and there an unexpectedness or two

A Winning Hand

A WINNING HAND

Patience trumps annoyance
Mindfulness trumps irritation
Non-attachment trumps ego

Free

FREE

Seeing attachments
To simply see attachments
Without attachment

Divine

DIVINE

Each new born moment
A fresh opportunity
To reseed Eden

Intuition Tuition

INTUITION TUITION

Still the mind chatter
Pay attention and listen
Silence speaks volumes

A Word To The Wise II

A WORD TO THE WISE II

Worry, worry, worry
Kills you in a hurry

So let things be
And you will see
More days

And those days
Will also sweeter be

Rice And Barley

RICE AND BARLEY

Two a misapprehension
There is only ever one
And yet are also two
No apprehension too

Like rice and barley
Found mixed up together
Letting go in the moment
Holding without grasping

Permanently Post-op

PERMANENTLY POST-OP

What we’re doing at the moment
Is forgetting what we’re doing

And for our next trick …

We shall require …

A brain in working order and
Never mind the standing ovation

Autumn Pause

AUTUMN PAUSE

In between brief showers
Blazing sunlit moments
Illuminate the path
As I hurry along.

Leaf after golden leaf
Attracts my attention.
Should I count them? Compare?
Life is too short for that.
