Sweet Nothings

SWEET NOTHINGS

In soft silent snowflakes
The Great swirls all around us
Whispering sweet nothings
Intended for no ears but those
Of all these ancient trees
And – if I attend – mine

Fanfare

FANFARE

Flying in couples
Ten crows silently trumpet
Spring is in the air

Success

SUCCESS

To earn your headline
Your fifteen minutes of fame
Nurture your nature

Aftermath

AFTERMATH

An afternoon given without stint
To reliving in rawest detail
Of mute mutual kinship
The savage damage dealt
A beloved nearby woodland

(Never so pretentious as to have
Had itself proclaimed forest)

Wild winds have been by here
Nobbut youthful vandals
Gone in a flash and yet
Demanding for themselves
The coveted title of tempest

Uncounted trees lie horizontal now
Their naked roots groping vainly
Through this now empty stillness
Their bold majesty dethroned untimely

Winter Stravaig (24b)

WINTER STRAVAIG

Huffish gusts
Umber and ochre
Rule the roost
Trudge through mulch
Swaddled in umpteen layers
Drool of buttered toast

Plum Blossom (3b)

Plum Blossom

…..
…..
…..
PLUM BLOSSOM

This blossom
Whence did it emerge?
From the tree?
Pen and ink?
The reader’s mind’s eye … or from
Unborn awareness?

The Launch (2b) (or not 2b ;) )

THE LAUNCH

Cheese and wine
The bigwigs are here
Backslapping
Backhanders
That’s what gave the project wings
Look, here’s a model!

It looks nice
But it’s supposed to
And notice
Those handshakes*
Farewell, God bless, sweet Nature
Here’s a mall instead

Warm Caress

WARM CARESS

Summer shower dusts
Windows with tiny raindrops
A delicate touch

The Bird And The Wanderer (A Shadorma)

THE BIRD AND THE WANDERER (A Shadorma)

Hark that bird
Perched for a moment
Serenade
Could it be
Me he sweetly addresses?
Will he call once more?

Hold my breath
Release it again
Sigh, walk on
Down the path
Stride after stride unfolding
An unsure future

Naturally: Four By Six

NATURALLY II

I see plants before me
As they stand before me
Sustained by the same air
Breathing our shared essence
