The Plan
THE PLAN
One thousand golden days
Ten thousand sparkling thoughts
Spread out here before us
At least that was the plan
Transient: Four By Six
TRANSIENT
Internet advises
Moderate exercise
Keep my ears open though
Death sneaks in on tiptoe
Terminal
TERMINAL
The conductor cries
“End of the line! All change please!”
Passengers wake up
Look round for their possessions
But no pockets in a shroud
Here And Now
HERE AND NOW
There can be a seductive temptation
In placing dreams above real life
Until it too has passed
A Podiatrist Examines Her Life
A PODIATRIST EXAMINES HER LIFE
She sits alone, surrounded
By a molehill of mementoes
Tells herself it’s all good
On a whim paints her toes
To match the passing mood
Fondles cherished footnotes
”Kaloo Kalay no work today”
Life’s far too short for sorrow
It’s here today, they say
And gone tomorrow
The rites – and wrongs – of passage
Are frozen fast in frosted time
They’ve dug in their heels
A comforting nursery rhyme
Today? Future memories. Feels!
Lovers And Followers
LOVERS AND FOLLOWERS
People, let me tell you
Can be oh so very fickle
One minute they will “Like” you
Then they leave you, and your ego, in a pickle

This was inspired by Arjun Sharma’s admirable poem “Where Are My Readers?” which, sadly, is no longer extant.
