THE WRITER’S CODE

Unflinchingly support
All those who soldier on
Striving against the tide
Building a sane future

Our Best (26a)

OUR BEST

We struggle
Gamely, unobserved
Not often
Successful
Still there’s always tomorrow
Until there isn’t

Way Station

WAY STATION

A happy heart is
Always welcome but then it’s
Upward and onward

2016 And Counting

2016 AND COUNTING

Fingers crossed plus prayers
Having surveyed the options
A broad church indeed
Some trust to Luck, others God
Let’s keep all options covered

Another Red Shower

ANOTHER RED SHOWER

The red shower, replete with fire and acid,
Flings shouts re-echoing ivy-spun corridors;
Here and there the hint of a word, a name,
Merges into intricate interlacing brickwork,

All and every day sauntering on in guessment;
Fearful since weaned on uninvited comeuppances.
Apothegm then: to overcome or else be overcome,
So prefers the verges, avoids the meanstream.

A captious catch-as-catch-can exploration;
Sifts the process, pauses, rescinds, deletes.
Hesitant to join the game even at novice level
Yet caught out red handed peeking nonetheless.

Unharried

UNHARRIED

Take time for space
And you will find space for time

Make space for time
And you will find time for space

Time and space are one
Are everything, are nothing

Firmly yet lightly they hold us
It is we who do all the grasping

Woman Of The Sea

WOMAN OF THE SEA

Sail on then, my lady, whatever befall you
Bent but unbroken, unbowed by the squall
Weatherbeaten cheeks, chiselled and carved
By years of wild wind and waters spent defining
Your signature inner diamonds set shining in
Spangles of teardrops and sparkling laughter

Sail on then, till that far harbour find you
Enfold you in its loving arms once again
No more call to brave the callous blast
Home the weary traveller, home at last
