Each Of Us
EACH OF US
Upon his decease
They found, clearing out his things, this envelope
Addressed “To whom it may concern”
Each of us is a PLP
A Public Leaning Post
A Poor Lonely Person
As a Public Leaning Post
I give each of you help and acceptance
And this is my Love
As a Poor Lonely Person
I ask each of you for help and acceptance
And this is my Humility
Amidst the dark and stormy seas of my pain and passion
I cling to the raft of my heart
And this is my Integrity
Among the dark and silent hills of my inner landscape
I shout “Hello” and listen to my own voice’s dying echoes
And this is my Humanity
There is a time for speech, a time for action
A time for silence and stillness
And this is my Wisdom
And as I strive to honour each moment as it is
And hold these qualities in mind
Perhaps I approach Creativity
Morning Sitting: Double haiku
MORNING SITTING
Three times three is nine
Three nines are twenty-seven
Pigeon on repeat
In the far distance
An American war bird
Slashes the still air
2020 Full Stop: Shadorma
2020 FULL STOP
Look around
No carrots, no sticks
All the chocks
Pulled away
Down time can become dream time
Up to us right now
The Way Forward
THE WAY FORWARD
Staying in place may be progress
Maybe the only progress for now
Let’s ask, once we’ve learnt how
Also how to listen to the answer
Darkness: Shadorma
DARKNESS
Whenever
Eclipse is total
I retreat
To the sky
Close all the doors and windows
And watch the clouds
Wilder Than Us
WILDER THAN US
“All Is One” we’re told
Check it out – Little required
Silence and stillness
Lead to pastures beyond our
Wildest imaginations
The Stillness: Senryu
THE STILLNESS
Careering through life
You miss the gifts to be found
In unemployment
Doing Nothing II: Quatrain
DOING NOTHING II
Not too practical this proposition agreed
Yet still practicality is not of the essence
While stillness may still serve to produce
Here and there an unexpectedness or two
