Night In The Desert

NIGHT IN THE DESERT

Silent witnesses
The stars of this cloudless sky
Like a string of pearls

Tiny incidents
Where ungoverned chance had
Drawn her here and there

Looking back she saw
Not chance but evidence of
A greater pattern

Beyond Or Beware

BEYOND OR BEWARE

Transit of Venus
Prefigures a pentagram
Pointing to the stars
The morning … the evening
See time and space blown away

We’ve seen another
The pentagram bastardised
A dark inversion
Evokes demonic powers
Since all exists within us

No Match For The Poet I’m Afraid

NO MATCH FOR THE POET I’M AFRAID

Struck by the moon, the stars, the night
Their cryptic messages, their laden secrets
Stricken by their fathomless mysteries
Assay some ham-fisted interpretation, then
Slink away, disheartened, hoping no one saw
Some misstep shatters even that lame illusion
Wiser to tread more carefully … or never venture
Beyond the closed windows of a silent room
