Liberalia

LIBERALIA

Liber and Libera toast to binary

Spinning dials click into place … Hey Presto!
Check the files within the hidden folders
A crossing of fingers, of tracks … and fade …
Wholesome, essential … so to one’s taste
Hmmm … Wonder what’s coming next?

Liber and Libera toast to binary

Caught sight out the window it’s 1567
Another space domain, same time line
Three witches ride wild in the storm tide
Young Will three years old bard-to-be
Whisper magic words, gift a golden pen

Liber and Libera toast to binary

Miss and Mister Mystery sniff the
Exploding salt tang of liberation
And so achieve the desired intent
Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide
Two-way eyelids’ mysterious presence

Liber and Libera toast to binary

Spin, little ones, spin away
Never mind all this toxic MSM
Perspective management yabber
My God, what an unholy carry-on!
Let’s concoct some of our own

Liber and Libera toast to binary

Chantilly shanties
Rich dark leafy greens
Forward, comrades!
In the morning …
Freedom

Unconventional Gambit: Sonnet

UNCONVENTIONAL GAMBIT

Shall I compare thee to a pile of dung
Left, still warm and steaming, by my horse?
So graceful, so well groomed, so well hung.
I describe the creature not myself of course
And pray my words may not, my darling, cause dismay.
Oh forgive a fool whose ardour outruns his tongue.
Should my simple similes offend thee what can I say
But that ’tis from untrimm’d spontaneity they’ve sprung?
If thou wrinkle thy nose at the smell, even sight
Of manure let my lips bid you reconsider the conceit.
Coming upon such ordure to the gardener is a delight
To be shovelled up and carried away tout de suite
For forking it into a bed is surely only but meet.
Without such sustenance would a rose smell so sweet?

c.f.Shakespeare’s Sonnet 18

This was written especially for Jamie Dides’ Wednesday Writing Prompt. This week’s prompt is ‘Reinvention’.

Marching Or Hobbling?

MARCHING OR HOBBLING?

Time’s mysterious mysteries
Reveal themselves slowly
And only a bit at a time
Just as shy teen maidens

Poesy, its heralds likewise
Sweet William and daffodils
Shook Shakespeare awake
Romantics now called the shots!

This town today, Cockermouth
Resonates with connections
Largely leapfrogging steam
Safely retaining its fertility

Presently social mediates creation
Advising: seek Like or Comment
Masked insidious cattle prods
Torchbearers disdain and bleed

No past nor future not imaginary
Writer, reader, listener one breath
Caught riding the crest of the wave
In hopes of grasping immanence

Sonnet 18 À La Shadorma (6a)

SONNET 18 À LA SHADORMA

Well worn words
Shall I compare thee …
Words worn smooth
Words sucked dry
Yet I revive them, gift you
Immortality

To Not To Be

TO NOT TO BE

Shakespeare left nothing
Beyond his art; his life was
Immaterial
