Self-sufficiency: Four By Six
SELF-SUFFICIENCY
Sexual expression
Sometimes appropriate
Other times not so much
When it’s best kept in hand
Credo
CREDO
I believe
That when we die
Our bodies return
To the dust they were made of
And our spirit wakes (again)
To the realisation that Spirit transcends
Species, race, gender, sexuality and all that nonsense
What we have only glimpsed of Love
Is fully revealed (once more)
In its wholeness
What foolish things we’ve done
Yet now forgiven
Lothario
LOTHARIO
Plays out Don Juan trope
Imagining them all his
Spends his life dreaming
The slippery slope
Into desire’s abyss
And ends up screaming

Making Love Love
MAKING LOVE LOVE
ignore the words
and
avoid the blood
proceed to the things that reveal
emotional restraint
suppression
make naughtiness of course
a wink and a nod
and nuanced
if you prefer
a battle
between dumb primal desires
that isn’t a skill
the giant system
that is life
requires your caress
– the sort of thing that feels casual

Sage And Union
SAGE AND UNION
One moment it’s spirituality
Next moment sex
How self-indulgent
Can one person be
For Heaven’s sake?
You have to wonder
What on Earth’s going on?
On Being An Apple
ON BEING AN APPLE
Unfolds the ancient process
The nurturing soil conceals
A cautious shoot emerges
Left alone becomes a sapling
And at last in time a tree
Season brings forth season
The obedient tree is blessed
With blossom and then fruit
The fresh born apple swells
Untouched by interfering man
Winking reds and greens draw the eye
Delicate scents stir the nostril
Awaken tempting memories
Sharp crunch and bursting sweetness
Mouth opens, longs for ravishment
Plucked, polished, devoured
In anticipated mutual fulfilment
If unpicked another fate awaits
To drop unheeded to the ground
Left bruised to decay and slowly rot
Turn Your Back On Us
TURN YOUR BACK ON US
Turn your back on us
…..and find a girl for yourself, my little love;
Men are not fashioned to your gentleness
…..and I will never love you.

UNCOMMON KNOWLEDGE
They lay down their law
“Men do this, women do that”
Stereotypes suck!
We are living proof
They overgeneralise
Nor are we alone
