Lower Steam

LOWER STEAM

In her cold shower
She thought I’m cooler now but
I’ll never be cool

The One

THE ONE

Remember you are
The one and only
Utterly unique

Remember you are
Yes, the one for whom
You were created

Remember yourself
Especially when
You are forgotten

The Heart A Lonely Hunter

THE HEART A LONELY HUNTER

Cheshire-like you grin
At a self-effacing joke
It’s a hollow laugh

Martin

MARTIN

“There’s always death to look forward to
And there are no pockets in a shroud”

He is now doddering on through his 80s
And still has vital things to teach me

If I am fortunate enough to catch him here
While he breezes by in his egocentric fog

Words like pride, honour, respect and love
Are never ones he felt himself worthy of

Mote

MOTE

I don’t fear judgement
For who will judge me worth judging
This mote that I am

The Lost Lamb

THE LOST LAMB

Stumbled today while browsing
As is alas too frequently the case
‘pon words of a fellow scribbler
Who had also, seems, stumbled

Without either failing to notice
Or perhaps even failed to care

Gave up the ghost of inspiration
Fumbled on and so misstepped
Then published (and be damned)
With time leaning on the doorbell

No blame or judgement of mine
(Beyond those too late to deny)
Yet I miss what might have been
Without a premature judgement

The untimely call to strike camp
Better listen to the inner voice
The heart – the inspiring spirit
O go ye seek the one lost lamb

Merely Unfolding

MERELY UNFOLDING

Abandon purpose
Stop worrying about things
Live your character

Slipknot

SLIPKNOT

Your muse is within
Forget all them outsiders
Simply distractions

The Burden

THE BURDEN

Arrogance is a heavy burden
Invisible and unrecognised by its carrier
But easily seen and recognised by everyone else
Beneath that burden is a hidden pain
And a deep well of lack of self worth

The inner issues we ignore
We create in the world we see instead

If it is too painful to look at the worthlessness
That we were taught belonged to us
We look for others to carry it for us
Generation after generation
A self-perpetuating dis-ease
