Impatience
IMPATIENCE
Are we not arrived here
To be learning patience?
Our soul’s sole choice
How steep the gradient
Given past performance
Forgiveness is in there too
Night In The Desert
NIGHT IN THE DESERT
Silent witnesses
The stars of this cloudless sky
Like a string of pearls
Tiny incidents
Where ungoverned chance had
Drawn her here and there
Looking back she saw
Not chance but evidence of
A greater pattern
Deceptively Simple
DECEPTIVELY SIMPLE
Despite its sundry dalliances and appurtenances
This poem announces no more than its presence
And exists to check out whether you’re here now
Reading, accepting now as now sans distraction.
In the absence of dalliances and appurtenances
(Busily active yet unconscious; if not of course
In that case all and any bets are officially off.)
Let us assume you are here now and job done.
~~~~~ ~ ~~~~~
(As promised, Ken.)
Own Goal
OWN GOAL
Somewhere out there I swear
Or else on reflection
Somewhere inside exists
That I am in search for
Jonah
JONAH
If you try to run off
Expect misadventures
Heed that still small voice
You have a job to do
Wavingnweaving
WAVINGNWEAVING
Waving to weavers
While weaving while wondering
Why weave and why why
While weaving while wandering
Wondering, weaving, waving
This is dedicated to all readers who are also writers, and especially those who may be called – by themselves or by others – poets.
The Achievement
THE ACHIEVEMENT
The travellers’ goal is not
To gain some something
Which they do not have
But that of relinquishing
That which they are not
We’re not here to procreate
(Opposite directions)
Smile, wave as we pass
Speak our truth and be gone
The Lost Thread
THE LOST THREAD
So you don’t feel you’re
Of much use to anyone?
And if so … then what?
