Flowers
FLOWERS
Flowers I love for
They leave me be
So sing me to sleep then
Then sing me awake again
O sing me to death and back
Before sheepishly I cry wolf
Both before and then after
Bayed, bays, bays and shall bay
“Have you splayed and displayed?”*
Lately lapsed warden strayed
Way far beyond the garden fence
Among the shadows in the wood
Took an unexpected turning
Somewhere down the line
Washed up hereabouts drowning
Within my own drying bones
While the near by is far awry
Empty of troths
Truths opinions
Until one lone day
Alone no more
No less
Retired to lick my wounds
Noli me tangere
No mean danger
No bedroom headroom
Collidoscope† collapsing
Time to fight my own fight
Overstand the web of soul
For flowers I love for
They leave me be

* “For those of you who live elsewhere “Have you paid and displayed?” is a common sign in English car parks, referring to purchasing a ticket from a machine on arrival that needs sticking on your windscreen to cover a specific time period.” (https://365project.org/casablanca/365/2017-06-03)

Learning Pattern (A Four By Six)
LEARNING PATTERN
The challenge: not to flinch
Or having flinched return
To that from which one flinched
And emerge emboldened
The Achievement
THE ACHIEVEMENT
The travellers’ goal is not
To gain some something
Which they do not have
But that of relinquishing
That which they are not
Role Play
ROLE PLAY
What wonderful stand-ins we make
You cast as my absent mother
Me cast as your absent father
Let’s go nail it on the retake
Shush
SHUSH
After a frantic youth
Found a well-trodden path
Discovered less is more
Where talking is concerned
At Long Last
AT LONG LAST
When I
At long last
Have learned
To view people
As I view flowers
I shall
At long last
Have made some progress
Sermon Sans Mount
SERMON SANS MOUNT
Learning
To understand
And overcome
Fear
May be
The most important
Hurdle to overcome
In life
Everything within us
That is not founded in love
Is founded in fear
Everything within us
That is not founded in fear
Is founded in love
The Misdirection

THE MISDIRECTION
There is what we knew
And there is what we were taught
They are not the same
