Compartmentalising

COMPARTMENTALISING

The proud grandfather
Just lectured on climate change
Can’t quite think things through

Systemic Causation

One must-read article.

“Global Warming Systemically Caused Hurricane Sandy” by George Lakoff

Ten More Years

TEN MORE YEARS

They told us that global warming would come
But people ignored it, said nothing was wrong
We think we’re invulnerable, lords of the earth
But just ask Katrina what our power is worth

Still ten years left to turn it around
A global solution can surely be found
I mean, come on now, how hard can it be?
All that we have to do is to agree

The leaders have gathered, the targets are set
But no one is meeting them, or at least no one yet
Can it be, do you think, that the men of the hour
Are controlled by the businessmen who put them in power?

Still eight years left to turn it around
A global solution can surely be found
I mean, come on now, how hard can it be?
All that we have to do is to agree

Sea levels rising – it’s just like they said
With flooding in London up over your head
In the garden of England productivity drops
Salt water irrigation is no good for crops

Still six years left to turn it around
A global solution can surely be found
I mean, come on now, how hard can it be?
All that we have to do is to agree

Droughts last for years, not a cloud in the sky
Could it be our emissions – no, no, that’s a lie
No water means no food and a land on its knees
And a new class of people: climate change refugees

Still four years left to turn it around
A global solution can surely be found
I mean, come on now, how hard can it be?
All that we have to do is to agree

We think we’re “developed”, with superior mind
But what of the ones that are “falling behind”
With their wars and diseases, their famine and thirst
Because part of the World had to put itself First

Still two years left to turn it around
A global solution can surely be found
I mean, come on now, how hard can it be?
All that we have to do is to agree

Alternative energy – wind, water, sun
Time’s slipping away – it will be a close run
We can’t keep burning fossil fuels like we are doing
We’re selfishly, stupidly heading for ruin

Our ten years are up and we still can’t agree
Is it the end now for Humanity?
