Ahoy There! II

AHOY THERE! II

Children have a wisdom
That adults have lost

Adults have a wisdom
Children have yet to attain

May we never sail on blindly
Missing one another by miles

Born Forty-eight

BORN FORTY-EIGHT

As empire expired
A National Health Service
Now on its last legs

God bless the 1960s
And that I have no children

Knock-on

KNOCK-ON

The poor children
The poor children

And their children

And could you
Turn up the heating
As you’re passing?

A Chinaman Howls And Moons The Circling

A CHINAMAN HOWLS AND MOONS THE CIRCLING

How Ling
China man
Moon madness
Madness moon

Circle ever
Lunar ticktock
Ebb flow
Menses tide

Life affirming
Two together
Make One
Supreme Ultimate

Make One
Supreme Ultimate
Life affirming
Two together

Ebb flow
Menses tide
Circle ever
Lunar ticktock

Moon madness
Madness moon
How Ling
China man

The Blessing

THE BLESSING

We may choose
Among seven directions
Of travel and exploration
Before, behind, left or right
Above or below, or the one
That is less travelled
The inner journey

My heart glows
To see your resolve
To explore them all

But let us not overlook
The eighth direction
The one over which
We have no control
– Inexorable time

I am powerless
To stay your journey
Your choices are yours
Even that tragic eighth
Yet may at least give
My heartfelt blessing
That you will always
Enjoy seven gifts

Marvellous Mondays
Tremendous Tuesdays
Wonderful Wednesdays
Thrilling Thursdays
Fabulous Fridays
Stupendous Saturdays
Stunning Sundays

In sum, my love

Wish-fulfilling weeks
Forevermore

Children Learn What They Live

I just (re)discovered this while poking around in my pc archives. I came across it years ago, and had forgotten about it; I’m sure it’s to be found all over the place, but as I haven’t come across it recently, let’s share it together here again.

CHILDREN LEARN WHAT THEY LIVE

If a child lives with criticism, she learns to condemn.

If a child lives with hostility, he learns to fight.

If a child lives with ridicule, she learns to be shy.

If a child lives with shame, he learns to feel guilt.

If a child lives with tolerance, she learns to be patient.

If a child lives with encouragement, he learns confidence.

If a child lives with praise, she learns to appreciate.

If a child lives with fairness, he learns justice.

If a child lives with security, she learns to have faith.

If a child lives with approval, he learns to like himself.

If a child lives with acceptance and friendship, he or she learns to find love in the world.

This Is Too Amusing Not To Share

We just had a phone call and learnt that our grandson, who is 5, is writing a series of books based on Star Wars called “Space Wars”. He is writing books 4, 5 and 6 now, and he says he will write books 1, 2 and 3 when he is 30. The characters are drawn in different colours to show whether they are good or bad. (A shame that doesn’t happen in real life. It would make things so much easier. 😉 ) The characters’ names are all based on those of characters from Star Wars. But the bit I found really funny is that he has a character called Obi Two, which just cracks me up! 😀
