Gently, Bentley: Shadorma

GENTLY, BENTLEY

Whenever
You try to take more
Than one step
At a time
You can be sure of one thing
You will fall over

Hard Liner

HARD LINER

Unwilling to melt?
No solution then and thus
Part of the problem

Old Friends

OLD FRIENDS

I have here two much loved books
Originally purchased at second-hand shops
(being pretty short of money in my youth – 10p each!)
I have now replaced them both in better shape
So the earlier copies are surplus to requirement

While I have looked after them carefully
(You may remember from our years together
That I’m always careful with books, discs etc.)
They were a little careworn by previous owners
So I don’t think charity shops would be interested

The content beneath the slightly dilapidated surfaces though
Is too precious to be thoughtlessly assigned to the refuse bin just yet

I recognise you as a discerning reader
And wonder whether you might not
Offer them a temporary home, another reading
Even though it might be their last

In exchange I believe you may receive herein
Some fine entertainment
Some food for thought
Let me know if interested and
I’ll package and despatch them

The Bull Amid The China: Shadorma

THE BULL AMID THE CHINA

That once touched
Shall never return
To being
As it was
Beware then of thoughtlessness
Take care what and how

Take Care (15a)

TAKE CARE

Let’s take care
Pitfalls surround us
Possess us
Yet no one
Is busy constructing them
But the I we are

Invisible Vampires (A Four By Six)

INVISIBLE VAMPIRES

They hover all round us
Tell me you don’t feel them
Be trusting, be open
But be nobody’s fool

Safety And Security

Please look after yourself and those you care for.

How businesses fail to protect customer information.

After all, poetry isn’t all there is.

Feather

FEATHER

Calm enters the sick room
A warm shaft of light
Pierces the clouds

They know they can trust her

The medicine woman
Her drum
Her rattle
