Only For You

ONLY FOR YOU

Do not bewail your fate at crossroads
Nor shirk the choice of either/or
But singing both/and search for the lost notes
The key to pick is neither/nor

Let us pray for the seasick sailor
Stormswept, becalmed upon the sea
The hero’s bold venture doomed to failure
As Jonah also tried to flee

Uncertainty made him a dancer
Who once had been so far from shore
And no single key can be the answer
Just as no road can be a door

The crossroads never have a signpost
The ship that sinks will reach no quay
The road is dark – devils take the hindmost
And Know Where is it plain to see

I do not write to give directions
The distance or the trials in store
These are the milestones of my acceptance
And they pretend to be no more

The Slings And Arrows: Double Shadorma

THE SLINGS AND ARROWS

Give it up
These foolish attempts
To cover
The whole world
With leather so’s to protect
Our sensitive feet

Far better
Since achievable
Watch our step
And wear some
Stout but comfortable shoes
Wherever we go

Points Of View

POINTS OF VIEW

To assert one should live without opinions
Is both clearly impossible and paradoxical
But to defend them or argue them to others
Is both quite pointless and often dangerous

Pushy Advisors

PUSHY ADVISORS

I could, I know
Or so I thought
Till I woke – Saw

I would if I could
But I can’t
So I shan’t

And as for your
Myriad shoulds
I leave you free

To go play
In your own
Backyards

Despair’s Downside (A Four By Six)

DESPAIR’S DOWNSIDE

Never throw both your arms
Up in the air for then
There will be nothing left
To catch them with again
