Bigfoot

BIGFOOT

I woke up this morning
Sooty footprints everywhere
In the kitchen, on the patio
In the bathroom, on the stair
There were footprints black as carbon
Hanging heavy on the air
And the paper lying on the mat
Said “Bigfoot’s here. Beware!”

…..Bigfoot’s eyes
…..Are on the prize
…..And never mind the cost
…..If we don’t cut him down to size
…..And soon
…..Then all is lost

Now I thought Bigfoot was a myth
It seems that’s not the case
And he’s not just in the U.S. now
He’s all over the place
He’s hosting feel good TV shows
With a big grin on his face
And there’s no escape from Bigfoot
He’s already up in space

…..Chorus

Bigfoot’s running factories
Churning out miracle pills
Bigfoot’s running colleges
Teaching vocational skills
Bigfoot’s got a master plan
For curing all our ills
If you see Bigfoot heading your way
Don’t panic, head for the hills!

…..Chorus

Bigfoot’s in the shopping mall
Signing up recruits
Handing out Rolex watches
And free Armani suits
Opening concessions
On all the major routes
Something tells me Bigfoot’s getting
Too big for his boots

…..Chorus

The government keeps on talking
About how much they care
The subject’s global warming
… Or is it just hot air?
The thing they really care about
Is Bigfoot’s market share
But Bigfoot paid for the election
So I suppose it’s only fair

…..Chorus

I eat apples from South Africa
Drink coffee from Peru
Drive a brand new 4 by 4
And collect the air miles too
Hey, why worry about this stuff
When there’s nothing you can do
My carbon footprint’s through the roof
And I’m a Bigfoot too

…..Bigfoot’s eyes
…..Are on the prize
…..And never mind the cost
…..If we don’t cut him down to size
…..And soon
…..Then all is lost

Bad News

And this one is for Maya because she’ll know why.

PORTIONS FOR FOXES

There’s blood in my mouth ’cause I been biting my tongue all week
I keep on talkin’ trash but I never say anything

And the talkin’ leads to touchin’
And the touchin’ leads to sex
And then there is no mystery left

And it’s bad news
Baby, I’m bad news
I’m just bad news, bad news, bad news

I know I’m alone if I’m with or without you
But just bein’ around you offers me another form of relief

When the loneliness leads to bad dreams
And the bad dreams lead me to callin’ you
And I call you and say, “C’mere!

And it’s bad news
Baby, I’m bad news
I’m just bad news, bad news, bad news
And it’s bad news
Baby, it’s bad news
It’s just bad news, bad news, bad news

‘Cause you’re just damage control
For a walking corpse like me – like you
‘Cause we’ll all be portions for foxes
Yeah, we’ll all be portions for foxes

There’s a pretty young thing in front of you
And she’s real pretty and she’s real into you
And then she’s sleepin’ inside of you

And the talkin’ leads to touchin’
Then the touchin’ leads to sex
And then there is no mystery left

And it’s bad news
I don’t blame you
I do the same thing, I get lonely too
And you’re bad news
My friends tell me to leave you
That you’re bad news, bad news, bad news

We’re bad news
Baby, you’re bad news
And you’re bad news
Baby, you’re bad news

Rethink And Challenge

The Legend Of The Moon’s Reflection (Republished)

THE LEGEND OF THE MOON’S REFLECTION

Deep in the Northern mountains’ silence
Once long ago
Far from the lands of men there lived a Prince
Cold as snow
All day long he would wander
Like a man possessed
As he went he would ponder
His life’s helplessness

Why it was that what he loved the most grew old and died
Why he found no place of rest however hard he tried
And he threw himself upon the mountainside
And knew himself to be alone and bitterly began to cry

And in his misery he saw
As if in a dream
That where his tears fell to the ground
There sprang forth a stream
And the stream fed a river
That flowed glad and free
From the hills to the lowlands
And so reached the sea

River and seawater
Flowing down together
Though the river ends
The sea lives on forever

And by means of this vision
The Prince was set free
And in his dying moments
At last he could see

Why it is that what we love the most must disappear
Where that place of rest is that is always free from fear
And he flowed into the river with his tears
And knew himself to be the sea without a knower or a seer

And if you gaze far out to sea at night
So they say
Sometimes you’ ll see his face shine in the moon
Far away
And the river still flows
From the hills to the plain
And the sea feeds the river
With drops from the rain

River and seawater
Flowing down together
Though the river ends
The sea lives on forever …

Dreams Not Real (Dreams Not real)

Trouble Every Day

(With a wave to Shawn and Jennifer.)

~~~~~~~~~~~
TROUBLE EVERY DAY
Well I’m about to get sick
From watchin’ my TV
Been checkin’ out the news
Until my eyeballs fail to see
I mean to say that every day
Is just another rotten mess
And when it’s gonna change, my friend
Is anybody’s guess
So I’m watchin’ and I’m waitin’
Hopin’ for the best
Even think I’ll go to prayin’
Every time I hear ’em sayin’
That there’s no way to delay
That trouble comin’ every day
No way to delay
That trouble comin’ every day
Wednesday I watched the riot . . .
Seen the cops out on the street
Watched ’em throwin’ rocks and stuff
And chokin’ in the heat
Listened to reports
About the whisky passin’ ’round
Seen the smoke and fire
And the market burnin’ down
Watched while everybody
On his street would take a turn
To stomp and smash and bash and crash
And slash and bust and burn
And I’m watchin’ and I’m waitin’
Hopin’ for the best
Even think I’ll go to prayin’
Every time I hear ’em sayin’
That there’s no way to delay
That trouble comin’ every day
No way to delay
That trouble comin’ every day
Well, you can cool it,
You can heat it . . .
‘Cause, baby, I don’t need it . . .
Take your TV tube and eat it
‘N all that phony stuff on sports
‘N all the unconfirmed reports
You know I watched that rotten box
Until my head begin to hurt
From checkin’ out the way
The newsman say they get the dirt
Before the guys on channel so-and-so
And further they assert
That any show they’ll interrupt
To bring you news if it comes up
They say that if the place blows up
They will be the first to tell,
Because the boys they got downtown
Are workin’ hard and doin’ swell,
And if anybody gets the news
Before it hits the street,
They say that no one blabs it faster
Their coverage can’t be beat
And if another woman driver
Gets machine-gunned from her seat
They’ll send some joker with a brownie
And you’ll see it all complete
So I’m watchin’ and I’m waitin’
Hopin’ for the best
Even think I’ll go to prayin’
Every time I hear ’em sayin’
That there’s no way to delay
That trouble comin’ every day
No way to delay
That trouble comin’ every day
Hey, you know something people?
I’m not black
But there’s a whole lots a times
I wish I could say I’m not white
Well, I seen the fires burnin’
And the local people turnin’
On the merchants and the shops
Who used to sell their brooms and mops
And every other household item
Watched the mob just turn and bite ’em
And they say it served ’em right
Because a few of them are white,
And it’s the same across the nation
Black and white discrimination
Yellin’ “You can’t understand me!”
‘N all that other jazz they hand me
In the papers and TV and
All that mass stupidity
That seems to grow more every day
Each time you hear some nitwit say
He wants to go and do you in
Because the color of your skin
Just don’t appeal to him
(No matter if it’s black or white)
Because he’s out for blood tonight
You know we got to sit around at home
And watch this thing begin
But I bet there won’t be many live
To see it really end
‘Cause the fire in the street
Ain’t like the fire in the heart
And in the eyes of all these people
Don’t you know that this could start
On any street in any town
In any state if any clown
Decides that now’s the time to fight
For some ideal he thinks is right
And if a million more agree
There ain’t no Great Society
As it applies to you and me
Our country isn’t free
And the law refuses to see
If all that you can ever be
Is just a lousy janitor
Unless your uncle owns a store
You know that five in every four
Just won’t amount to nothin’ more
Gonna watch the rats go across the floor
And make up songs about being poor
Blow your harmonica, son!
