Thursday

Thursday. (Or in our house “Bin Day “.)

Ventures of a love-sick addict.

Thursday used to get me out of bed in the morning,
like coffee brewing two rooms away.
Like sunlight stabbing between the drapes,
and time screaming from the night stand.

Thursday was the precise amount of drunk
anyone ever wants to be before being ruined
by addiction or feelings.
Thursday was a bender
without a throbbing end or shame recollected.

Thursday made life seem full of possibility,
in a way the world is never quite seen again
once newborn eyes age.
Thursday became part of me,
like an arm or a leg
I still try to move after its been taken away.

Thursday was my vice,
like carbohydrates and wine.
A wishing well
that swallowed pain instead of pennies.
Thursday used to be my girl.
We never dated,
but, she could make me feel less alone in the world
just being within arm’s reach
and never killing the dream of…

Thursday

THURSDAY
………………………………………………………………………..For Country Joe McDonald
“Some people they find each other
..I found you …”

Today, filled with unknown desolation, I wrote

…..“Dried
…….By the wind
…….An old leaf
…….Followed me down the road …”

As a bonus, you also get the excellent “Eastern Jam”. However, if you don’t want to spoil the mood, I suggest you stop the video at the end of “Thursday” and watch EJ at another time. But don’t forget to return for it. 😀

The Weekly Atiśa

THE WEEKLY ATIŚA

Monday: Dream with lucidity, without interference.
Tuesday: Ruffle any surfaces minimally, if not at all.
Wednesday: Scatter your gratitude wherever you go.
Thursday: Leave off criticism; you are the victim too.
Friday: Let go of any wish, any idea of any letting go.
Saturday: Joyfulness is both the source and outcome.
Sunday: Who is it seeking, acknowledging approval?

~~~~~ ~ ~~~~~
“Consider all phenomena to be dreams.
Don’t be swayed by outer circumstances.
Be grateful to everyone.
Don’t brood over the faults of others.
Explore the nature of unborn awareness.
At all times simply rely on a joyful mind.
Don’t expect a standing ovation.”
catatonic love poem
catatonic love poem
when i was blind boy
stevie wonder
your glasses touched me
for evermore
making the decisions
working in the light
you saw clearly
and cried for me (once)
in transition
(temptations/psychesoul)
you bought your contact lenses
went dabbing at watering eyes
and now i am diana ross
untouchable
it is holy thursday
and i will love you
till the frames of your contact lenses
have rusted away
Teaching, Learning And Intuition
TEACHING, LEARNING AND INTUITION
You asked me last Thursday, or as I recall it
To “Please e-mail me with a gentle reminder”
Yet, for reasons not really worth recounting
It has taken me a couple of days to do this
And this has allowed me to pad out my e-mail
With a couple of videos I think will interest you
Plus an article on the castration of education
So clearly the delay was in some way important
The Blessing
THE BLESSING
We may choose
Among seven directions
Of travel and exploration
Before, behind, left or right
Above or below, or the one
That is less travelled
The inner journey
My heart glows
To see your resolve
To explore them all
But let us not overlook
The eighth direction
The one over which
We have no control
– Inexorable time
I am powerless
To stay your journey
Your choices are yours
Even that tragic eighth
Yet may at least give
My heartfelt blessing
That you will always
Enjoy seven gifts
Aunt Sally
AUNT SALLY
From letters to Aunt Sally:
…..Dear Uncle Sammy
I’d just like to say I’m just a friendly little dwarf
And what I believe
Well this as I’m convinced
Is the situation and problem
I try to keep quiet
I stand on ceremony as restrained
Over the walnuts and the wine
I stand in livery
…..(and I’ve been to college too)
……….as constrained
Only barely in my mind
From smashing vases to make a noise
Or standing on my head
Or someone else’s
…..(So much for love!)
And I mouth something
Careful virgins risk a smile
And it’s no use asking what ever happened to their sisters
…..The surly walls are looming
……….staring
…..The telephone keeps on screaming
…..And I’m tired of Thursdays
But I suffer from only headaches
And a strong desire to ask questions
…..Or sleep
While I just look grieved
…..Or smile
Unconvincingly
…..The surly walls are looming
……….staring
…..The telephone keeps on screaming
…..And I’m tired of Thursdays
“Please don’t look so grieved”
“Please don’t look so grieved”
“Please don’t look so grieved”
Can you help at all?
The term “Aunt Sally” is sometimes used in Great Britain as a colloquial political idiom, indicating a false adversary or straw man set up purely for attracting negative attention and wasting an opponent’s energy. The technique is sometimes used during planning applications when the applicant needs to show they exhausted all other options and need to create false alternatives that are easily identified as unsuitable.
