Monkey Mind

MONKEY MIND

Watch the monkey mind
Chattering through the jungle
Swinging thought to thought

About Ben Naga

The Spirit that graces me with its passing has no name and stems not from thoughts and words, though it gathers them up as it flows, but from feeling.

  1. This hits home – meditation has been difficult lately. Need to get out of this jungle! 😯 Great analogy once again, Ben.

    • Thank you for your as ever kindly and complimentary comment, Betty. Sorry to hear that you are experiencing these difficulties. I am sure that those too will soon pass. Here is a section from a recent piece I haven’t posted yet. It seems relevant.

      “And here we are
      Cognisant matter and mind
Bereft of that the truth untaught
It doesn’t matter if you don’t mind
Chitchats on on Fessebouche on and on
Take a pause for a moment and pause
At the crux – the axis – of all this
      Here-I-am now-is-now this-is-it I-am-I
Where is my next breath coming from?
How do I know that? I actually don’t
      I am an incomprehensible miracle
Given the grace of time to seek
      While stars and planets spin”

      • Ben, thank you for sharing this excerpt from your poem. I find it somehow comforting, and will read it again before my next meditation.
My difficulties seem to be coming from various directions (inner and outer) which interrupt concentration. Generalized anxiety. Need to get centered once again. Hard to keep our perspective in this crazy world!

Thank you again for your thoughtfulness, my friend. ❤️
