Not For Nothing

Many years ago now we vowed
That we would never allow loss
(however painful this might be)
To restrict our deeply felt interaction
With any of the music we love

Given that we view music as
A gymnasium for the emotions
It surely follows don’t you know
That if we do not exercise
Our emotions when needed
Or like water, or like blood
They fester and putrefy

Contain both
Water (for cleansing)
And salt (for preservation)

Nature is not called
Mother Nature
For nothing

About Ben Naga

The Spirit that graces me with its passing has no name and stems not from thoughts and words, though it gathers them up as it flows, but from feeling.

  1. Having seen a photo of your collection, this is understandable, especially with the association of music that you shared.
Should the appreciation for music (or, perhaps, the rejection of certain music) be considered primal? If so, then the initial response would be valid under any circumstance, with no guilt for that response.

The emotions invested in a lifetime of shared music are hard to ignore. Some might turn their backs on that music. I would consider it a goldmine.

  2. Music once shared will always be a meeting place, I’ve found.
