Fearspawn
FEARSPAWN
Many people believe
(Having been taught so)
That love and hatred are opposites
But in my experience this is not correct
The true opposite of love is fear
Fear is the ground
From which hatred grows
Love opens us up
Fear closes us down
We no longer see
So we imagine
And hate what
We think we see
To overcome our hatred
We must first overcome our fear
Of our fellows and of ourselves

Well spoken, Ben, and so very true. We hate what we fear, and we fear what we don’t understand. And we’ll never understand if we don’t open up our minds and hearts.

BEGONE ENCHANTING HATRED
Inner exploration
Of whatever hatred
Arises within us
Is the only way out
With terror confronted
(Oz’s humbug wizard)
False images dissolve
Love is reunited

Spot on 4 x 6’s! And there it is again, turning to face and confront the “monster” and seeing it transmute. Darkness dissipates and what’s left is light and love. 🤗 (Cliche as that sounds….) You said it better.

Thanks. I also had the US political situation in mind. The Wizard of Oz was not nearly as dangerous and destructive as today’s one though.

One of your best offerings, at least in my opinion. Well spoken and what truth there is in this!

I am pleased it hit the spot for you, Bela. And thank you for your kind appraisal. 🙂

Yes, what we fear we hate, and yet, perversely, the way to enlightenment is to confront those fears…

I would agree but not consider it perverse.
