Forever Amber

FOREVER AMBER
……………………………………………………………………………………………………….For Roger Z
Seeing nothing
Beyond pattern
Superimposed

Do I care for you
Or is it I care more for
My caring for you gone?

Proceeding unhindered
Playing a game
For a while

A different game
A different while
The same play

Where an author lurks
There are no accidents
But pattern-spun plot

And shadows …

About Ben Naga

The Spirit that graces me with its passing has no name and stems not from thoughts and words, though it gathers them up as it flows, but from feeling.

  1. In those shadows often lie the words that complete the story.

  2. Ben, you told me about this series a few weeks ago and it’s still in my notes to get ahold of the first book. Now your poem has me doubly intrigued – thank you. Such a nice tribute!

  3. I have read Zelazny, but not his Amber series. I haven’t been reading much science fiction lately. The question is, am I up to that in the middle of writing what I am struggling to write right now?

    • You are best fitted to answer that, I think. The Amber series is fantasy rather than si-fi. Certainly there is an awful lot of intricate plot and many characters to keep in mind over a span of ten books. This might be difficult if you are already involved in the complexities of your own creative process. OTOH it might provide some relief.
