A Well-travelled Word
A WELL-TRAVELLED WORD
“Depraved” has baggage
Powerful connotations
Send hot-cold shudders

Yes, I would imagine that every Depraved has baggage—baggage that I would prefer that s/he not open!

What I had in mind here was the emotional associations, the positive or negative charge which different words can have for different people: “death”, “nigger”, “homo”, “slug” etc etc.

Thank you for the compliment. Happily Blogspot played nicely today and allowed me to comment on *your* poem there for once. 🙂

we do not want depraved to open up that baggage.

Less of a danger than when left hidden away from sight and mind though, I think. 🙂
Once again Blogspot would not allow me to comment on your contribution, so it is here instead.
“Such a different set of challenges you face and overcome here than those I set myself with 3WW, 🙂 “

Words tend to change their meaning over the years. Depraved meant at one time ‘crooked’ or ‘distorted’. We do this so much with our language especially today.

Baggage indeed. All kinds of emotions and considerations get gummed to words. It takes conscious effort to remove them, and a lot of people don’t see any reason to bother.
Blogspot is again incapable/unwilling to accept my comment on your Auschwitz poem, which is
“Both Auschwitz and Nuremberg have important lessons but sadly too many ignore them.”

Some years ago this happened with me with WordPress. The answer is to establish an account with Blogspot then you find you are accepted.

Thanks for the suggestion, but the problem is intermittent. This time it had no quarrel with my comment to Jae Rose. Curious. 😕

When responding to a 3WW challenge I generally like to add to the challenge by writing a response which says something worthwhile reading and in as few words as possible. 🙂
