Avant Garde

They break all the rules
Then chew up and swallow them
Before retiring

About Ben Naga

The Spirit that graces me with its passing has no name and stems not from thoughts and words, though it gathers them up as it flows, but from feeling.

  1. They don’t retire until the damage is done.

  2. Great poem , Ben, however it triggers thoughts in my mind you might not have intended with your poem.
rules are there to be broken not? and that does not stop when one retires, not? 🙂

    • Thank you, Francina. My senryu was inspired from a quotation from Vicki Bennett:

“The avant garde were the soldiers that ran ahead and got shot so that the main corps could march triumphantly over exactly the same ground without threat.”

Which in no way invalidates reaction to reading my words. 🙂

  3. As long as no one gets hurt why not break the rules. We only live once.
