Grown Ups
GROWN UPS
They have forgotten
They are only pretending
No longer children
Free to be themselves – don’t see
Invisible training wheels

Imagine we wanted to hurry and grow up. Thinking we would be free when we already were free.

When in fact “adulthood” was to a great degree the exact opposite.

That’s the first step in freeing yourself, or at least to modifying them to your personal liking.

If only I had wheels, training or otherwise. Instead I find myself peering into half seen environments that I don’t really understand. You buying me a bike Ben Naga? Will I understand then? Feel the wind in my face? Training wheels or not?

My inner life seems to be where most of my significant journeying goes on these days. All my poems are invitations to go travelling. I have heard it said that travel broadens the mind, but never that it guarantees understanding. Or at least not until we return home. “Second childhood”?

It is only when someone thinks about no time that they begin to worry. Then for some life finally gains meaning or terrorizes them. jk
Not speaking for self but a general statement of facts for some or all at times.

I would love to save folk from worry, unless it is ultimately of value. But then who am I to judge? At best we fumble in our darkness, trusting to our heart(s).

Children are always fun to be around for me, but even more so before they learn to put on the mask that we all wear.
Why do we wear it, I wonder, and is putting it on something we consciously do? I don’t remember when I did, but I watched as my own kids put it on and I felt both sad and powerless to stop it

I can empathise with every word here. However, I do what I can to remain as genuine I am able and wait patiently to come across any spark I can kindle further.

Ah, that we could all access our inner child! Of course you know I really like this one. 🙂
