Self-reliance
SELF-RELIANCE
Relied on them
Then discovered they are crooked
Must have your own back

Talking about bankers? Or people in general?

One of the qualities I enjoy in poetry is its capacity to (possibly) say several different things at the same time. The tags here thicken the broth, and also recently I have been reflecting on betrayal and fidelity, in marriage and friendship, and I like like the imagery conjured by the phrase “I have your back”. I didn’t think of bankers when writing this but they are certainly (un)worthy candidates too. (But “candid”? Now that may be open to debate, I think. 😉 )

self-reliance is the only thing that has kept me alive and happy all these years, never leave home without it. 😉
