Just Like Buses

There’s an old saying, here in the UK at least: “You wait hours for a bus. Nothing. Then two come along at once.”

Yesterday I posted a response to say thank you and pass on the “A Thought Provoking Blog” Award – (And yes I know it’s my fault about the delay since the nomination. But then, if you folk didn’t keep posting so enthusiastically that my inbox is doing a non-stop Jack-and-the-beanstalk imitation … ) – and here I am again today responding to another award. I hope this doesn’t sound like a grouch. If so, let me apologise. In truth, I am always touched when someone takes the time and trouble to let me know the effort I spend writing is not unappreciated.

This time it is a “Tell Me About Yourself Award“. It was given to the Musey Lady and me by Miss Audrey who, like Alice, can be found in Wonderland. Her site is a particular favourite of mine. It could be one of yours too if you investigated. Who knows? There’s only one way to find out, isn’t there?

The award looks like …

I have to provide seven pieces of previously unrevealed information about myself.

1. I have lived in four different countries at various times in my life.

2. I am left-footed.

3. I almost never wear a watch.

4. I found shaving irksome, and consequently grew a beard.

5. I love under-used words such as irksome.

6. I can kiss my own big toes, though not both at the same time. (Not that I find this a terribly useful ability.)

7. For me, one of the hardest things about this sharing exercise is finding things that I can be certain haven’t emerged in some post or comment somewhere.

I have to offer this award to seven other sites from whose Administrator we may prise seven personal secrets. I choose:

Golden Giraffes Riding Scarlet Flamingos Through The Desert of Forever

Pocket Perspectives

Supersonic Euphony

Thanks again, Miss Audrey. 😀

About Ben Naga

The Spirit that graces me with its passing has no name and stems not from thoughts and words, though it gathers them up as it flows, but from feeling.

  2. Gina's Professions for PEACE

You are so witty! I adore your list of ‘things’. And I really wish I could think of an underused word right now to share… The fact that I can’t is irksome! ~Gina

  3. Congratulations . . . and thanks for introducing us to some new blogs. They are wonderful.

  4. Thanks Ben…. such kind appreciation.
And Ben…your blog is a positive and inspiring expression of the ideal and the actual meeting in mid air….cyberspace! …. : ) (for others, that quote is from Sandokai, passed along to me yesterday by Ben…)
    “Lo! With the Ideal
    comes the Actual,
    Like two arrows in mid-air
    That meet.”

  5. Congratulations Ben!
    and, thank you!! 😀

  6. aww!! thank you so much for including me in this awesome list!! i am truly honored!! 😀

  7. sarahjaneprosetry

    Congrats, Ben

  8. Congratulations, Ben! Enjoyed reading your 7 things… and the mental image of someone kissing his own big toe. (Makes my back hurt just thinking of that!)

  9. I love learning these little tidbits about you… 🙂
    And congrats of course! ♥

  10. Thank you, Riss.

“I love learning these little tidbits about you…” Well, here’s one about buses then. I was once a bus conductor, back in the days when such creatures still existed and we still reckoned our money in £.s.d. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/£sd) Those were the days. I recall someone reading a poem at an open mike evening at the time things were being changed which had the lines

    “Sing a song of sixpence
    Two-and-a-half new pence
Wouldn’t you think the lot of us
Would have some more bloody sense?

I still regret the passing of £.s.d. Did we beat Napoleon (twice) only to end up with decimal currency?! 😥

  11. Dear Ben I so enjoyed reading the tidbits of info about yourself, especially the part about kissing the toes…now that put a smile on my face!…(everyone should know how!) Thank you for mentioning me here…I am late in arriving as this is the first time I’ve been on my computer in weeks and hopefully will be spending more time online soon and will be able to catch up with the blogs I love so…

  12. “I almost never wear a watch.” – Same here. At last, found something I have in common with the Ben Naga.
