Spring Cleaning

In recent weeks I have been really struggling to keep up with all the various things that call for my time and attention. This includes managing to acknowledge the arrival of three new awards. Partly for that reason I shall bundle the three together into a single response.

Number One is the Kreativ Blogger Award.

This arrives courtesy of Nicola from The Prattle of Hastings. (Who has one of the smartest titles for a site I’ve yet to see.)

Number Two is the Sunshine Award.

Let me say thank you here to both Umar Tayyab from ART EPIPHANY and also the talented artist who publishes Win Lose or Draw as they were both kind enough to nominate this poetry site for the award.

Number Three is the Very Inspiring Blogger Award.

For this award I am indebted to Sirenia from My Own Avalon.

When you can spare some time from within your busy life, do visit these sites and see the various treats they offer.

I calculate I shall be able to satisfy the requirements of all three awards by posting ten pieces of information and recommending ten WordPress sites.

Information

1. I have spent most of my life living on an island.

2. The father of one of the folk who nominated this site for one of the awards is an old friend of mine.

3. “Horace Sippog And The Siren’s Song” is one of my favourite novels.

4. I am the author of “Northern Limericks”.

5. I once stood as an Independent Anarchist in an election, after the official Anarchist candidate and I had a disagreement on policy.

6. “Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme” is one of my favourite pieces of organ music.

7. I will always avoid showering if a bath is available.

8. My gardening skills are minimal.

9. I nicknamed my dental hygienist Flossie.

10. I can get my thumb and little finger in a straight line.

About Ben Naga

The Spirit that graces me with its passing has no name and stems not from thoughts and words, though it gathers them up as it flows, but from feeling.

  1. Thank you Ben!! And congratulations for all of these awards… you more than deserving. p.s. I LOVE baths… not showers. Ugh.

    • ” I LOVE baths… not showers.” Although my ecologically obsessive friends tell me that showers use less water and energy. Hardly our smallest peccadillo, I’m sure. 😉

  2. Thank you from Tom and Ethel, Ben. We have given up on awards, though. Most people would find my schedule beyond what they would accept anyway, then you add to that blogging, reading and commenting on other blogger’s work, family, fighting cancer with treatments that wear you out, and still having a little time for moments out in nature and reading, and working on awards, much as you value those who award them to you, becomes a challenge. Maybe when, and if, I retire and have a little bit shorter day it will be possible, but right now it seems to be too large a mountain to climb. Thank you so much again, my friend.

    • No expectations. 😀 Just a way of expressing my appreciation. As for your comments on awards, I quite agree. It took me half a day to get up to date with it here, and I still have my other site’s awards to deal with.

  3. Thank you, Ben – I’m honored that you included me in your list!
And congratulations on all the awards you’ve received. I’ve found it too difficult finding the time and energy to follow through on any further awards, but truly appreciate your appreciation!! 🙂

That’s right. My heart is just an open book. 😛

Thank you for the kind words about the poems. As you can see from “FILED BUT NOT FORGOTTEN” there is plenty to plough through in here.

  5. Thanks Ben and congratulations to you. Is “Northern Limericks” available in print? Oh and I tried the thumb and little finger thing and there’s no way with my little hand. Amazing!
